Landscape Design and Construction in 4S Ranch
We built a 1,200 square foot paver patio off Diegueno Drive last fall. Class II base compacted to 8 inches, full drainage rerouted to a French drain along the side yard, polymeric sand swept tight at the joints. The homeowner wanted a fire pit zone and a future outdoor kitchen footprint without losing the existing olive trees. We held the patio elevation 2 inches below the slab to keep water moving away from the foundation.
That is the kind of work we run in 4S Ranch.
Why 4S Ranch Yards Need a Specific Approach
Most 4S Ranch lots sit between 0.15 and 0.35 acres. The soils run clay-heavy with poor percolation, especially the parcels south of Camino del Norte. We always start with a perc test before a planting plan goes to design. Without it, irrigation gets oversized and root rot becomes a year-three problem.
The 4S Ranch master HOA has design review requirements on front-yard work. Any planting plan along Dove Canyon Road or Stoneridge Country Club frontage needs ARC submittal with elevations and a plant count. We have prepped those packets for clients across the community and know what the review board flags on first pass.
What We Build in 4S Ranch
Backyard remodels here typically run $65,000 to $220,000. The high end includes pool surrounds, outdoor kitchens with gas runs, retaining walls on graded lots, and a full lighting design. We have built smaller refreshes in the $25,000 range too. A planting redo with drip and a few lighting touches on a typical lot lands around $35,000.
- Custom landscape design with 3D renderings
- Hardscape construction: pavers, retaining walls, fire pits
- Drip and rotor irrigation with smart controller installs
- Low-voltage LED lighting design
- Outdoor kitchen and BBQ island builds
- Drought-tolerant planting plans
Local Conditions That Shape Every Project
The marine layer rolls inland through 4S Ranch most mornings between May and July. That changes microclimates by orientation. South-facing slopes near 4S Ranch Sports Park take full sun stress by 11 AM. North-facing patios stay cool through summer afternoons.
Santa Ana winds in October dry everything fast. We spec wind-resilient species like sticky monkeyflower, manzanita, and Cleveland sage on exposed pads. The standard nursery list does not work here.
We have worked properties near 4S Commons Town Center, around the Stoneridge frontage, and along Black Mountain Road. Each pocket reads differently. The hilltop lots carry 3 to 6 percent grade challenges. The flats off Dove Canyon get more wind exposure.
Working With Arcadian Landscape
Evan Weisman runs design on every project. He holds a degree in Landscape Design from CSU and California Contractor License #978145 (C-27). Bonded and insured. No subcontractor handoffs on the design side. The same team you meet on day one is on site through final walk-through.
If you are planning a 4S Ranch project, the first conversation is about how you actually want to use the yard. We work backward from there. Call our team or browse landscape design and paver installation work.
