Landscape Design and Construction in Del Mar Heights

Most of the yards we build up here sit on the mesa between Crest Canyon and the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Tight lots. Big views. And almost always a grade change the original builder never solved.

We are Arcadian Landscape, an Evan Weisman led crew. Evan has a Landscape Design degree from CSU and over a decade building yards across the coast and North County. We handle the design and the construction, so the person who draws the plan is the person standing in your side yard when the retaining wall goes in.

The drainage problem on Del Mar Heights lots

The mesa drains toward Crest Canyon and the I-5 corridor, and a lot of these homes were graded to push water straight at the downhill neighbor. On a job off Mango Drive last winter we pulled a failing two foot wall, re-poured footings, and ran a 4 inch perforated pipe in gravel backfill behind the new block. Water now exits where it should instead of pooling at the patio slab.

This matters more in the June marine layer months, when the soil stays damp for weeks and clay holds the moisture against foundations. We grade for it from the start.

What we build here

Mostly outdoor living. Paver patios, low seat walls, full landscape design, and hardscape construction sized for the view lots that face west toward Torrey Pines. We also rework tired front yards into drought tolerant planting with drip irrigation instead of spray heads, which cuts runoff onto the sidewalk.

Del Mar Heights homes often carry view easements and lot grading rules, so plant height and wall height get checked before we dig. We read those before drawing anything.

Cost on a typical Del Mar Heights project

A focused backyard refresh, meaning new pavers, planting, and lighting on a standard mesa lot, usually lands in the mid five figures. A full build with retaining walls, drainage, and an outdoor kitchen runs higher. We give a real range after walking the site, not a number over the phone.

We also work the neighboring areas. See our Del Mar and Carmel Valley pages if your home sits closer to Highway 56 or the racetrack side.

If we built something for you in Del Mar Heights, a Google review that names the street and the work helps the next neighbor find us. Arcadian Landscape, C-27 licensed, bonded and insured.
