Hardscapes for your Property

Hardscapes are outdoor architectural features made with hard materials such as concrete, stone, brick, and wood. In contrast, softscapes are natural components such as the trees, shrubs, grass, flowers and soil. Well-conceived hardscapes add beauty and function to your property. Below are some common hardscapes which you may incorporate into your outdoor living space.

Retaining Walls and Fences: Retaining walls often serve to hold back soil or redirect water. Fences and retaining walls provide privacy and deter intruders. A wall or fence need not appear utilitarian: ask us about stylish walls and fences which integrate into your existing design.

Decks, Patios, Terraces, and Verandas: these are all variations of the same theme: a platform where you can be with friends and enjoy the great outdoors. Decks are usually made of wood whereas patios are usually made of concrete, stones or bricks. Terraces are usually off the ground, and verandas usually have a covering to protect against the sun and rain.

Stairs, Walkways, Pathways, and Driveways: having the right walkway and driveway can dramatically enhance the look and feel of your property. If you are by a hillside, a custom design staircase can complement your existing landscape.

Trellis, Arbors, Pergolas, and Gazebos: these structures serve as a focal point or a destination to your outdoor space. Trellis and arbors are open frames which provide shade and allow for plant and vines to grow. Pergolas are also open frames but they are larger, sturdier and often cover outdoor living areas. A gazebo is a free-standing structure with open sides or lattice walls.
